D-Group Disciplines

As disciples, we strive to be a little more like Jesus each day by focusing on seven spiritual disciplines (Bible Reading, HEAR Journal, Scripture Memory, Prayer, Accountability, Who's Your One, and RESET). Additional resources for some of these disciplines can be accessed below.

Launching a D-Group

“... He had loved His disciples during His ministry on earth, and now He loved them to the very end.” John 13:1

  • Who: Identify, invite and confirm your group members
  • When: Consider seasons of the year and determine a realistic start date that works for your members. (Tip: It is best to begin at least 6 weeks before any major holidays or vacations where a break would be needed.)
  • Where: Decide on the best day and time each week to meet, and select a location that allows for a private group meeting. (Tip: You can also select day or time prior to having all of your participants confirmed. This may help some people decide if they can commit!)
  • Be confident in the method.
  • Stick to the mold as much as possible while also customizing the journey for your group. The method is intentionally relational!
  • Introduce the weekly disciplines in a way that’s both challenging, yet meets your group members where they are. It’s ok to take longer adding different disciplines or try different techniques to master them!
  • D-Groups make disciples who make disciples.
