The Holy Spirit Empowers

February 15, 2026

Week 1 - The Spirit inside of us is better than Jesus beside us.
Week 2 - You are the temple where the Holy Spirit dwells.
Week 3 - The Holy Spirit leads us by the Word, through the wilderness, into worship.

8But you will receive power (dýnamis) when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses (martyres) in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (CSB)

Power → Witness

42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47 (CSB)

The Holy Spirit empowers ordinary obedience, everyday awareness, and public witness.

1Now Peter and John were going up to the temple for the time of prayer at three in the afternoon. 2A man who was lame from birth was being carried there. He was placed each day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so that he could beg from those entering the temple. Acts 3:1-2 (CSB)

#1 - The Holy Spirit Empowers Ordinary Obedience

3When he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple, he asked for money. 4Peter, along with John, looked straight at him and said, “Look at us.” 5So he turned to them, expecting to get something from them. Acts 3:3-5 (CSB)

#2 - The Holy Spirit Empowers Everyday Awareness

The Spirit often empowers us by interrupting our routines so we can notice people God refuses to ignore.

If we’re too busy to notice broken people, we’re too busy to be led by the Spirit.

5So he turned to them, expecting to get something from them. 6But Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” 7Then, taking him by the right hand he raised him up, and at once his feet and ankles became strong. 8So he jumped up and started to walk, and he entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. 9All the people saw him walking and praising God, 10and they recognized that he was the one who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. So they were filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him. Acts 3:5-10 (CSB)

16By faith in His name, His name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. So the faith that comes through Jesus has given him this perfect health in front of all of you. Acts 3:16 (CSB)

37You know the events that took place throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached: 38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, (dýnamis) and how He went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the devil, because God was with Him. Acts 10:37-38 (CSB)

26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:26 (CSB)

Paraklētos:

One called alongside.
One summoned to help.
One who stands with you and strengthens you.

Are you walking in His power or trusting your own strength?
