Living On Mission
Make a Difference - Part 1
May 11, 2025
The mission of The Bayou Church: We want to invite every single person in Acadiana to Know God, Find Community, and Make a Difference.
You’re not here by accident—you’re here on assignment.
What God Says Is True About You:
#1 - God Made You for a Purpose
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
“13 ... You knit me together in my mother’s womb. ... 16You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalm 139:13,16 (NIV/NLT)
“For through Him (Jesus) God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16 (NLT)
You may feel random, ordinary, or unqualified—but your life is divinely intentional.
#2 - Your Past Doesn’t Disqualify You
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” Genesis 50:20 (NLT)
God doesn’t waste your past—He weaves it into your purpose.
#3 - The World Sells You Comfort, But God Offers Purpose
Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter. - Francis Chan
“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?” Matthew 16:26 (NLT)
The life you really want is found in the purpose you were made for.

Additional verses to take your study further:
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 (NLT)
“Jesus came and told His disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT)
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, ‘Come back to God!’” 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 (NLT)
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT)
“He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.’” Matthew 9:37-38 (NLT)
“God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)
“In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.” Romans 12:6 (NLT)
“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT)
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” James 1:27 (NLT)
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)
