Christmas is So Much More

“1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created. 4In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:1-5 (CSB)
At Bethlehem, God WITH us.
At Calvary, God AS us.
At the Resurrection, God FOR us.
At Pentecost, God IN us.
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14 (CSB)
#1 - At Bethlehem, God WITH us.
The infinite became intimate. The Creator became the created. The Word became a whisper that Mary held.
Emmanuel isn’t a seasonal name; it’s an eternal truth.
“We observed His glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 (CSB)
#2 - At Calvary, God AS us.
“He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 (CSB)
The baby wrapped in cloth became the Savior wrapped in our shame on a cross.
Jesus didn’t just die for you, He died instead of you.
“16Indeed, we have all received grace upon grace from His fullness, 17for the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18No one has ever seen God. The one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father’s side —He has revealed Him.” John 1:16-18 (CSB)
#3 - At the Resurrection, God FOR us.
You can live confident, because Jesus already conquered the thing that was meant to crush you.
“4In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:4-5 (CSB)
“15If you love me, you will keep my commands. 16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. 17He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.” John 14:15-17 (CSB)
“1When the day of Pentecost had arrived, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like that of a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were staying. 3They saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and rested on each one of them. 4Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit …” Acts 2:1-4 (CSB)
#4 - At Pentecost, God IN us.
The same Word who dwelt among us now sends His Spirit to dwell in us.
The more you’re looking for is found in the One who came looking for you.
At Bethlehem, God WITH us.
At Calvary, God AS us.
At the Resurrection, God FOR us.
At Pentecost, God IN us.
