Partner with The Bayou-supported missionaries in West Africa in teacher training at a local church and implementation of a Vacation Bible School. Our purpose is to share the Gospel message with children and adults who have never heard the story of Jesus and provide guidance for local Christian pastors/teachers in developing sustainable, creative children’s programming for unreached areas.

What will we do?

We will be working with Allan and Patsy Fulton, missionaries who have served there for more than two decades. In the mornings, we will help local church leaders put on a vacation Bible school for 300 children. In the afternoons we will participate in additional projects which may include ongoing teacher training, ministry to special-needs families and worship/teaching gatherings for adults. Additionally, we will have the awesome privilege of handing out Operation Christmas Child boxes! It is a unique opportunity to be part of bringing such joy and hope to children. Before we leave Ghana, we will see the APF Ministry Center where the Fultons host their special-needs ministry and base their ministry of drilling water wells.

What is our schedule?

We will travel overnight to Accra to be greeted by our friends at APF ministries. The team will then travel by van to a nearby city where we will host VBS each morning for hundreds of children. In the afternoons, we prepare for the next day’s VBS lesson and then visit villages and orphanages to learn about the culture of West Africa. Towards the end of the week, we take one day to sightsee around Ghana.

What are the accommodations?

Typically, teams will stay in a hotel in Cape Coast. Team members usually sleep two people per room: ladies together and men together. If we have a married couple on the team, they are more than welcome to room together.

What will we eat?

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided at the hotel restaurant. (All meals include chicken and rice.)

What are the requirements?

Must regularly attend The Bayou Church
All applicants must regularly attend Sunday services. Applications from other churches or denominations will be accepted, but priority is given to members of The Bayou Church.
Attend all team meetings
Each mission team meets six-seven times before departure to learn about the mission area's culture, plan trip activities, and bond as a team. Additionally, each team has a pre-departure dinner for family members as a celebration.
Meet all payment requirements
All attendees make three payments: initial deposit, airline payment, and final payment. Amounts and deadlines will be shared at the first team meeting.
Complete First Steps classes before mission departure
In First Steps classes, you will discover who we are, meet some of our staff, and connect with others at The Bayou Church. The classes are four consecutive Sundays, starting with Step One on the first Sunday of the month (February - May & August-November) at the 11:00am service in the Ministry Center classroom. We invite you to jump in at any time.
